School opens for children (1st Sept INSET days) 
School re-opens for all children at 8.40am the gates will be open from 8.30am.  

Tuesday 16th September 2025
Jeans for Genes Day 
On Tuesday 16th September, we will be inviting the children to attend school in Jeans and their usual school uniform (T shirts / Shirt and ties and jumpers) for the national ‘Jeans for Genes’ day. This special day raises awareness of genetic illnesses and the money raised will be sent to the charity for it’s work in research and supporting those with genetic illnesses.

Friday 19th September 2025
Stay and Play Reading Session for Year 1. Parents and carers are invited to join us for an hour of reading fun with the Year 1 children 9am-10.00am in the school hall. Drinks  will be available from 8.45am.  

Monday 22nd September 2025
Book fair arrives! The Book Fair will take place in the front playground (weather permitting) after school from Tuesday 23rd September until Thursday 25th September. For this fair, contactless payments, (card / Apple Pay) and the exact cash amount will be taken. We are running the Book Donation raffle again. You child will gain 1 raffle ticket for every unwanted book brought in from home. Money vouchers to spend at the book fair will be given out to 10 winners per class so the more books your child donates, the greater the chance of winning a voucher! Books need to be brought in from Monday 22nd – Wednesday 24th September.

Bright Bites team will visit school to talk to the children about the importance of oral health.

Wednesday 24th September 2025
Stay and Play Reading Session Reception. Parents and carers are invited to join us for an hour and a half of reading fun with the Reception children 9am-10.30am in the school hall. Drinks will be available from 8.45am.  
 

Friday 26th September 
MacMillan Coffee Morning and Reception welcome coffees/teas 
Please could we ask for donations of cakes and cookies for the coffee morning to support MacMillian's world’s largest coffee morning again on Thursday 25th September. ‘Grab and Go’ bags will then be created on the front playground on the morning of Friday 26th September for you to enjoy at home or on the way to work. Children can bring 1 cupcake to enjoy in class as part of the event, which will be given to celebrate and raise awareness of this event. This will be taught alongside our teaching about a balanced diet.

Thursday 2nd October
Collective Worship led by Y4 at Church (Harvest – Thankfulness) 
This year we will be supporting local food charity ‘Street Treats’. If you are able to support us please could you bring items to the classroom at registration time, or to the school office at any time. Please can we ask for long life items like tins, biscuits, pasta, rice, soft drinks, tea or coffee etc. 
Also, if you have any clean tents, sleeping bags, rucksacks to donate, please could you leave these at the office too.

Collective Worship led by Year 5 at the Church for our Remembrance service. Please come and join us for our Collective Worship at Church with Y5, focusing on Respect on Remembrance Day. 

Monday 10th Nov - Fri 23rd Nov
Switch off Fortnight - Switch off Fortnight is an energy-saving campaign run by The Pod, encouraging schools to educate their students about their energy usage and to switch off appliances and lights when not in use. By committing to turning off unused appliances and lights, the average school saves 10% of their typical energy usage. Children will bring home a list of ‘energy saving’ challenges to complete during the course of the fortnight. 

Monday 10th Nov - Fri 14th Nov 
Anti-bullying Week (Odd Socks Day on Monday 10th) - Anti-Bullying Week begins on Monday 10th November. Children are invited to wear Odd Socks on Monday 10th November as a day to express their individuality and uniqueness. This year’s focus is on ‘Power for Good’. 

Parent Consultations

Thursday 13th November 
Reception trip to Ashton Library - Parents or family members are invited to join the children on a trip to Ashton library. The children have been sent home forms to complete to sign up to the library so they can take a book home on their visit. Please let Mrs Hadfield know if a family member can attend the trip with your child.

Monday 1st December
Reception Outdoor Decoration at drop off - 8.40am Children are asked to bring one Christmas decoration into school and at drop-off the parents can help place their decoration in the Outdoor Reception area. 

Tuesday 2nd December
Reception post box walk - Reception children to walk to the nearest postbox to post their invitation to the Reception nativity. Parents / grandparents are invited to join us with this walk. 

Friday 5th December
Reception Grandparents' Decoration Day - Grandparents are invited into Reception to help the children create Christmas decorations with the children (one am and one pm slot). Please let Mrs Hadfield know if your child’s grandparent would like to join us! 

Friday 5th December
Non-Uniform Day (Fair donations) - Children can come to school in non-school uniform if they bring in chocolates or a bottle donation for our Christmas Fair tombola  

Wednesday 10th December
Christmas School Fair - Come and join us for our Winter fair on Wednesday 10th December from 3.30pm. If you would like to help run a stall, please speak to Mrs Idrees or Miss Cowley. The fair is cash only.
